Rainbow Scrap Challenge 2017

I decided that I needed a good reason to work on my quilt blocks as daily as possible. What better way than to join a fun group of people doing the same thing as me? So I joined RSC 2017. I think I got a pretty good start on it, well, a few days after everyone else started I am sure! I do have scraps, but I also have fat quarters languishing in the same bins as the scraps so I am using those as well. Otherwise, I wouldn't have much to show for myself.
I haven't quilted nearly as much as I thought I would be after moving two years ago. Dang! Two years already??? I moved into this house on the 26th of January 2015. That flew by!
So the daily sewing happened for two days in a row. (ahem, hey! I'm not perfect!) There are other things to be done and yesterday was a busy one. I did sew yesterday, but I also, replenished the chickens' food supply, (four 40 pound bags worth) and since it's been literally freezing here lately, I am having to haul water to my goats and chickens by the bucket full. I moved the horses' buckets closer to the house to make it a little more convenient for me, their buckets are twenty gallons each, times two. Nope, not hauling individual buckets eight times to fill those buggers! I love that the ground is frozen, it makes it safer and easier to get around the ranch, but the hoses don't run water. When it thaws out next week, I will be able to run the hoses, but will be slipping and sliding in the mud! I guess I can't have it all!
Today, sewing didn't happen because I spent yesterday hauling heavy things around and my elbow and hands hurt too much to hold onto fabric.
This is what I did get done:

My first Wonky Log Cabin.
I think I will make two of each in the colors of the month. They are 12-1/2" right now, so will finish out at 12". I think I will have a good amount to make a decent quilt with.

My second Wonky Log Cabin, only half done. Distractions happened in the way of a baby goat needing to fed every other hour, so he was a tad more important than my blocks!

I found the pieces for this in the bottom of my scrap tub. They started out as just the strip of stars sewn to the lighter fabric. They were 3-1/2" strips to start with, I added the third fabric and then sewed them together kind of willy nilly, just because they were there and yeah, RSC! I can't for the life of me remember what they started out life as. I still have four more. Maybe an idea will come to me for using those by next year's RSC!

So! For the very first time in my life with a blog, I am linking up with Angela and taking this journey! It's going to be fun! Now I am off to link and then finish looking at the other 59 blog links...there's some awesome stuff going on over there!

Nice wonky purple log cabins. My goodness you are busy with your animals, guess that's life on a farm. Hope you get to find some more sewing time.

So glad that you are joining in. Those pretty purple blocks will surely turn into something lovely someday. It is great that you were able to find some time to sew between all that bucket hauling.

Your blocks are quite lovely, and they will make such a pretty quilt with all the other colors at the end of the year. (That's really a good idea!) I feel for you having to carry water - that's HARD work. Yep - that's what I was thinking, when it thaws you will be in mud. :-( What I did for my yard (that also gets super muddy) I laid down used boards, there are not nailed down or anything, just put down so that I have a walk way. Maybe you have something out there that you can make a walk way out of.
