Okay, so I really need some practice!

My first attempt left me feeling inept. (Is that the word I want?)
Obviously, I don't have the control over my hands and machine and feet and fingers that I thought I had. That's why they say practice makes perfect.
I need those gloves that Leah has, I need that silicone thingy that lays on the bed of the machine so I have more control. Gosh...Friday is payday. Guess what I am ordering???
Hey! I sewed! I'm happy. It's what I was striving to do.
More later...

:) The gloves and a slider really help me a lot. It's markedly harder without them. That slider - you'll want to put a couple pieces of tape down (doesn't take lot), just to make sure it doesn't shift on you.

I use the gloves all the time - except for in the summer when it's so hot. Then I just grip the quilt to death - lol! I really do love the gloves, makes is so much easier and fun. I haven't used the slider. Makes me wonder if I should buy one and try it.

I use some super gloves I found at the hardware store. I think I paid $4.00 for them, they work really well. You can definitely tell a difference.

The gloves are definitely a must! I can't FMQ without them. Also, this is something that i had to learn the hard way- there is no substitute for the weight of a quilt. I practiced and practiced on mini quilt sandwiches, but when I quilted a real quilt (just a lap size) it felt totally different because of the weight. Just try to remember- fast needle, slow hands. Hang in there! You'll get the hang of it. My quilts aren't perfect by ANY means, but my current ones are much better than when I started in January. And always remember- you are your own worst critic! I'm sure most people wouldn't even be able to spot anything "wrong" with your quilting. :)
