The Foot From Hell

I still am not convinced that anything from the ankle down will ever feel good again.
I am fresh back from the Podiatrist. She was great and all, and actually spent some non-rushed time with me, but I have heard so many things from so many doctors that I don't know who to believe anymore. You'd think that because this doctor is a PODIATRIST I'd want to believe her the most. But for some reason I am skeptical.
I didn't think at all that I would get out of this with my pocket book unscathed, but I have spent far more on this foot than any other body part so far. Nothing has helped. Now, the podiatrist is telling me I need to buy more, and more costly things for this one foot.
Now I need to go out and buy shoes that are over $120 and some ankle brace that is $30. There are still excercises I need to do. She said swim, for other excercise, no walking for that. (Um, they JUST closed the local pool down for renovations, I know, my daughter worked there.) She wants me to drive 15 miles away to go to the next pool. Um. NO!
I am reluctant to spend the money on all this other stuff, because I have spent enough money already that hasn't done anything but make my pain last longer. The appointment alone cost me $50. She sent me home with a nice list of where to get the shoes and wonderful (insert sarcasm here) pictures of the excercises. Those I will do, they are free. I guess I HAVE to buy the shoes and the brace, cause I can't go back to her when it all doesn't work and give her that look, if I don't at least waste my money.
Have I ever said before that I HATE Kaiser-Permanente? If I haven't, let me say that here and now. I HATE Kaiser-Permanente!

SOOOOO FRUSTRATING! I wonder if I'm headed that same way. Chronic pain sucks, that's all there is to it.

I'm sending you some healing thoughts.

I feel your pain - literally and figuratively. I hope you feel better soon. This getting old stuff sucks.

I really hope you find something that works for you. Can't imagine how aggravating this all must be.

Sent you an email last week about the raffle item you were donating. Did you get it?

Glad you had a lovely time at the lake, but I'm so sorry to hear your foot is still bothering you. It's amazing how when your feet hurt everything seems to start going wrong. I had a run in with a nasty case of Plantar Facialis (sp?) last year. After going to my reg. doctor and then to a podiatrist they finally figured out what was wrong and got me some special shoe inserts. I had to get some good supportive shoes (but they said good quality tennis shoes were fine) and wear them and use the inserts all the time I possibly could. No barefoot, wear the tennies and inserts up until bed to give support. After about 6 mo. my foot finally got better. But before that I was really hobbling around. I still wear tennis shoes and the inserts when I can even though the pain is gone just to be on the safe side. Hope the shoes and stuff help and your foot is feeling better soon.

I am still alive. I read on Lisa's blog (on blog #3) that you went to the lake and I ran right over!! I'm so glad you finally did and so sad you are having foot troubles. I know it sucks because I broke my left little toe two weeks ago.

I have NOT been to the lake but ONCE. I feel like I'm invisible to everyone. Including myself.

I can totally sympathize with you Foot problems are really difficult and a pain!

So what is wrong with your foot, did she say?

Unfortunately I've found when it comes to footwear, you get what you pay for my shoes are over $140 as well then there's 400 orthotics to go in there, and on and on!

Could physiotherapy help?

If your condition is plantar fascitis, try the Dansko shoes, got rid of mine almost immediately, granted I didn't wait that long to buy them. They are about $130 but I got them for 60% off at a Dillard's Rack store.
